Food
Ugh, today (or yesterday rather) was a pretty bad day. School, something cropped up at home, cock up at work, and more. But my main point today will be about school. Well... about my polytechnic mates to be exact.
They are a fine bunch of people. However, the majority of them has one flaw: Food. They HAVE to eat no matter what. Even when I asked them to endure their hunger for another hour or so to finish up some assignment work. But no, they had to go eat first, making all sorts of excuses to do so. I gave up trying to persuade them. Now, I didn't make this post just because this happened yesterday, but because this scenario has been occurring a lot lately. Heck, I can skip a whole day's meal if I have to, I don't see why they can't do the same. I wouldn't like to be stuck on a deserted island with them...
While I'm on the topic, I shall give a brief introduction to my current friends.
Friend number 1 is a perfectionist, striving to be perfect in everything he does. Normally, I'm cool with it. But when our group is rushing out an assignment to meet the deadline, and he cares about little details such as slide design, I'd get pissed. He's a brain as well, topping our class score charts almost every single semester. He also eats extremely slowly. As for his looks, let's just say he's the most stylish amongst us all.
Friend number 2 stresses over every single thing. And seriously, I don't like it. For example, after our paper last semester, he squat down alongside a wall and kept scratching his damn head. He seriously stresses over projects, often saying 'My head hurts', 'I feel giddy', 'I'm damn tired'. He also hums and whispers to himself frequently. He's an anime addict, although not an otaku like me. As for his looks, well, to term it simply, the classic nerd style. My friends used to call him 'Track Pants' because that's what he wears often.
Friend number 3 is a.. well, normal teenager. She studies and dresses like everybody else. She listens during lectures and takes notes. Her guy preferences are also like a normal teenager. 'Handsome and Stylish'. She's also very close to friend number 1, because he's well, stylish. They're not going steady though, because she already has a boyfriend. My only complain about her is that she doesn't wear her glasses frequently, because I think she looks good in 'em. But that's just my personal preference.
Friend number 4 is a thin and tall dude from China. He's a good friend normally. Sadly, he becomes much of a dick when projects and assignments comes into play. He often does slip shod work. He misses group meetings and skips school frequently. He's also a smoker.
Friend number 5 is a buff-looking individual. He used to be in conflict with friend number 3, but the animosity between them has long gone. Even so, they stopped talking to one another. He doesn't say it, but I'm sure he had plenty of girlfriends in the past, because he is rather good-looking and tall. Just the type Singaporean girls are looking for. EDIT: Before their conflict, friend number 3 was closer to him than to friend number 1. In fact, she didn't stick around as much to friend number 1 last time.
Friend number 6 is a new addition to our group. She had a few misunderstandings with her previous(?) boyfriend, who unfortunately, is in the same tutor group. She's a pretty girl. Not my type, but yeah. She's also quite smart. Her presentation skills are top-notch as well. She is currently very much in contact with friend number 5. I'm sure they're already starting to develop feelings for one another. It's just a matter of time...
and that's it. The friends I hang out with. They are, overall, a nice bunch of people. Except when they eat of course. Of course, a person like me has no right to judge other people, but these explanations are just how the gang appears to me.
....I've also experienced how my life would be in Japan this past week. I ran out of cash near the middle of the week. The outing with Mel and Rick on wednesday took the last of my bread away. My EZ-Link card ran out of cash, and I had to scrape by with what little coins I had left. Of course, I have the option of withdrawing money from the bank, but I won't do it. Those are reserved for my migration to Japan somewhere in the next 10 years. But hey, by my calculations, I'll be experiencing yet another week of poverty next week. Best to experience said poverty first than suffer in Japan later.
And finally.
